San Juan Island Information
San Juan Island and Friday Harbor is a pet-friendly community. The many beaches and parks are a great place for dogs to visit. Dogs are expected to be on a leash for safety and owners are responsible for cleaning up after their pet.
Pets on the Ferry
Pets riding the Washington State ferries should stay in your car, or on a leash on the car deck if you are a walk-on passenger. Otherwise, they must be kept in pet carriers. This, of course, does not apply to service animals. These special animals may accompany their owners into the cabin. All pets should have rabies shots.
Pets and Lodging
Many of the lodging facilites on the island are "pet-free" for the comfort of other guests with allergies. However, you can board your pet with us and come to visit or take them with you for the day to explore the island. At night, they will be happy and safe in our comfortable boarding facilities.
